Silver Jubilee Celebration of the FEI (Ferrando Educational Institutions) - Past Pupils Association

The FEI Past Pupils Association joyfully celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 25th October 2025 at St. Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong in the presence of Sr. Katherine the General Councilor for Education, Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma the Provincial Superior and other Provincial Councilors and principals of the 8 FEI The momentous occasion brought together past pupils, from the 8 Units in a spirit of gratitude and togetherness. The celebration commenced with the lighting of the Indian Lamp, symbolizing wisdom and enlightenment, followed by Scripture reading and prayer…
A graceful prayer dance. Dignitaries were warmly felicitated, and Miss Fatima delivered a heartfelt welcome address, setting a cordial tone for the day.
The morning featured insightful input sessions by Rev. Fr. A. I. Jose and Sr. Maria Ali, who spoke on faith, personal growth, and the vital role of alumni in nurturing the values of education and service.
Following a delightful refreshment, the afternoon unfolded with a vibrant cultural program that showcased the diverse talents of students and past pupils through traditional dances, songs, and performances. Inspiring addresses were delivered by Sr. Katherine Joseph, Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma, and the Chief Guest, Smti. Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, who commended the institution’s enduring contribution to holistic education and pledged her support to its mission.
The event concluded with the distribution of souvenirs and a vote of thanks by Sr. Mary Saio the Provincial Councillor for Education and the Chief coordinator of the FEI Past Pupils Association, Shillong Province, expressing deep appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the celebration.
The Silver Jubilee marked a milestone of faith, friendship, and fidelity to the FEI mission rekindling cherished memories and reaffirming the commitment of past pupils to continue the legacy of education and service for generations to come.
Observation of Decent Work Day
Date: 15th October 2025
Venue: Ferrando Transit Shelter Home, Mawlai
The North East Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM), Shillong Region, observed Decent Work Day on 15th October 2025 by organizing a Seminar on Legal Awareness for the domestic workers of the region.
The programme was held at Ferrando Transit Shelter Home, Mawlai, with the objective of creating awareness among the domestic workers regarding their legal rights, entitlements, and the importance of decent working conditions.
The Magistrate and Advocates from the District Legal Services Authority served as the resource persons for the session. They delivered detailed inputs on various legal provisions, protections, and support mechanisms available for domestic workers.
More than 100 domestic workers from different areas of Shillong Region attended the seminar. The participants expressed appreciation for the valuable guidance received and the efforts taken by NDWM Shillong to empower them through such informative sessions.
The programme concluded with words of gratitude to the District Legal Services Authority officials for their collaboration and continued support in promoting justice and dignity for domestic workers.

Two Day Retreat for Children

RIP Sr. Susanna T. Sangma
Date: 8th October 2025
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Rev. 2:10
A “beautiful and silent saint” has gone to her eternal home. Our dear Sr. Susanna T. Sangma peacefully surrendered her life to God after fourteen years of silent suffering borne with faith, joy, and gratitude.
Her quiet endurance and prayerful spirit touched many hearts. We trust that she now rests with the Lord, receiving the crown of life.

IPC members Visits

“The visit of the Superiors is the visit of God Himself.”
It was a rare and grace-filled event at the Mother House, an occasion that occurs only once a year. The Shillong Province joyfully welcomed the Higher Superiors from Hatigaon, Guwahati together with the Provincial Superiors and Council members of the six Provinces –
Bangalore, Guwahati, Kolkata, Tinsukia, Tezpur, and Shillong. The visit was a time of prayer, reflection, and renewal as they made their pilgrimage to the Holy Tomb of our beloved Father and Founder.They were cordially welcomed with a red Rose symbolizing love and affection to the superiors and the traditional drape called “Jainkyrshah” symbolizing their three years of dedicated service as leaders of the Congregation and Provinces.

YAC Silver Jubilee Celebration
Date: 12th – 14th September 2025
Venue: Little Flower Convent, Malki
The YAC (Young Apostle of Christ) Silver Jubilee Celebration at the Province level was held with great joy and enthusiasm at Little Flower Convent, Malki. The three-day event brought together YAC members from various units of the Province to thank God for His
blessings over the past twenty-five years and to renew their commitment to the mission. The celebration began with the Inaugural Holy Mass, presided over by Most Rev. Wilbert Marwein, Bishop of Nongstoin Diocese, and concelebrated by Fr. Prior MSFS, Parish Priest of Mawryngkneng (seniorYAC), along with Fr. Sebastian Malngiang, Parish Priest of Cathedral Parish, Laitumkhrah. Following the Eucharistic celebration, the Inaugural Ceremony was held in the presence of distinguished guests and well-wishers. The occasion was graced by Rt. Rev. Wilbert Marwein, Bishop of Nongstoin Diocese; Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma, Provincial Superior; Sr. Delina Lyngdoh, Provincial Councilor for Social Apostolate; Sr. Pdiangmon Shylla, Provincial Economer; Sr. Angela Dkhar, Councilor for Evangelization cum Chief Coordinator of the YAC Movement in the Province; and Sr. Mary Concepta Dkhar, former Provincial Superior and the one who initiated the YAC Movement in the year 2000 while serving as the General Councilor for Evangelization.
The ceremony began with a prayer and lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of Christ guiding the youth. It was followed by songs, dances, and speeches, reflecting the vibrancy and missionary spirit of the YAC members.
In his message, Bishop Wilbert Marwein highlighted three important points:
• The Jubilee is a time to look back with gratitude to God.
• It is a moment to celebrate with joy the success achieved so far.
• It calls us to look forward with hope and trust in God.
He reminded the YACs that they are the hope, joy, and future of the Church.
In the following days, various sessions were conducted by different resource persons:
• Sr. Mary Concepta Dkhar, msmhc – YAC: Its History and Objectives
• Fr. Gedwin Warbah, sdb – Spirituality of the Youth
• Fr. John Albert Ryntathiang, (Senior YAC) – Liturgy signs and symbols
• Mr. Albert Nonrum, (Senior YAC) – Media and the Youth
• Fr. Starlight Khongsit, (Senior YAC) – YAC as a Ray of Hope
• Sr. Maria Ali Thapa, msmhc – Leadership
The Jubilee celebration also comprised various competitions, including thematic dance, extempore speech, exhibition on YAC mission and activities, and Bible skits. Prizes for all these competitions were distributed on the final day.
As part of the recognition, special citations were awarded to the following units:
• Pynursla Unit – for fostering more vocations.
• Mawkyrwat Unit – for outstanding service to society.
On the concluding day, more than 500 YAC members from various units participated in the celebration.
At 1:30 p.m., His Grace Most Rev. Victor Lyngdoh, Archbishop of Shillong Archdiocese, presided over the Concluding Mass, concelebrated by Fr. Starlight Khongsit (senior YAC) and Fr. Shemphang Dkhar (senior YAC).
In his homily, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh emphasized the call to be missionaries, outlining three key points:
• To be apostles means to love God throughout our lives.
• To love others, even when it is difficult.
• To live in faith and hope in God.
He further encouraged the YAC members to follow the example of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a model of missionary zeal in today’s world.

Blessing of the New Girl's Hostel
Date: 8th September 2025
Venue: Mawrusyiar, Nongstoin
“A Home away from Home”
The blessing ceremony was solemnized by Rt. Rev. Wilbert Marwein, Bishop of Nongstoin Diocese, and inaugurated by Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma, Provincial Superior, in the presence of Fr. Rolandus Lyngdoh the Parish priest of Nonbah Parish, Fr. Maruis Thongni sdb the Parish priest of Pyndengrei Parish, Fr. Carmel Myrthong sdb, Fr. Lamkupar Shangdiar. The occasion was also graced by Sr. Angela Dkhar, Councilor for Evangelization, Sr. Delina Lyngdoh, Councilor for Social
Apostolate, Sr. Pdiangmon Shylla, Provincial Economer, Sr. Phyrnailyn Biam, Provincial Secretary, and sisters from nearby communities, School managing committee, parents, teachers, and the hostel girls.
Following the Holy Mass, a short felicitation program was organized to express joy and gratitude. The atmosphere was filled with songs, dances, and cheerful hearts, praising God for His wonderful works.
In his address, Bishop Wilbert expressed deep appreciation for the sisters’ hard work, dedication, and missionary spirit in nurturing the faith and education of the children, especially in the face of many challenges. He invoked God’s blessings upon the community, encouraging them to continue witnessing Christ through their loving service to the children, the poor, and the young in both the school and hostel.
Indeed, it was a day of thanksgiving, joy, and renewed commitment to the mission of love and service among God’s little ones.

Meeting-cum-Animation for Principals of Ferrando Educational Institutions
Date: 23rd August 2025
Venue: Shillong Provinciliate
A meeting-cum-animation for all the Principals of Ferrando Educational Institutions was convened by Sr. Mary Saio, the Provincial Councillor for Education, at the Provincialate on 23rd August 2025.
The gathering aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening the educational mission of the Congregation. The session began with an hour of spiritual and motivational animation led by Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma, the Provincial Superior. In her address, Sr. Provincial highlighted the vital role of Principals as leaders and witnesses of Gospel values in the field of education. She reminded them of the positive influence they can have in shaping students’ lives and urged everyone to remain faithful to the guidelines and traditions laid down in the Directory of Education.
Following this, Sr. Mary Saio led a detailed session on the Government structure of the Education Department, explaining the various offices and procedures to be approached for administrative and official purposes. Her presentation provided clarity and practical guidance to the participants on dealing effectively with educational matters at different levels.
Towards the end of the meeting, the group discussed and planned together for the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Ferrando Educational Institutions Past Pupils Association at the Province level. The meeting concluded with a sense of unity and renewed commitment to uphold the educational charism of the Congregation in all institutions under its care.

Visit of Sr. Mary Saio, Councillor for Education
Date: 19th and 20th August 2025
Venue: St. Peter’s Secondary School, Iongkaluh and Sacred Heart Secondary School, Byndihati
At Sacred Heart Secondary School, Byndihati, she also met the Past Pupils who had earlier formed an association but had not continued its activities. She encouraged them to take initiatives to revive the Alumni Association and to collaborate in promoting the growth and development of the school community.

Pilgrimage to Bandel
Date: 30th July to 9th August 2025
Venue: Bandel, Kolkata
During this spiritual journey, the sisters attended the annual spiritual retreat from 3rd August to 9th August 2025. It began with reflections led by Fr. Biji Thomas, continued by Sr. Jesline Msmi and Sr. Philomena Mathew, and concluded by Fr. James Mathew. Though the retreat began with an unexpected change due to unavoidable circumstances, God’s hand was clearly at work. When one door closed, another opened, revealing His greater plan. What started with a storm ended in a calm breeze of peace, renewal, and gratitude a true testament to the Lord’s guiding hand throughout the journey. The sisters returned home enriched by this sacred experience, their hearts burning with renewed zeal to serve the Lord and His people.

Celebrations of Silver and Golden Jubilee of Sisters
Date: 20th July 2025
Venue: St. Margaret’s Convent, Peachlands
The Province joyfully celebrated the Silver and Golden Jubilee of the sisters.
Golden Jubilarians – Sr. Pleasina Lyngdoh, Sr. Celine Sangma, and Sr. Celestina Saras; Silver Jubilarians – Sr. Magdalyne Sohtun, Sr. Martha Myrthong, and Sr. Juliet Lalrinzuali. “I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved is mine.” (Song of Songs 6:3) was the theme of the celebration. The solemn Holy Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Victor Lyngdoh, Archbishop of Shillong, concelebrated with eight priests.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a graceful felicitation ceremony was held in honour of the jubilarians. The event was graced by the presence of neighbouring communities, family members, friends, and benefactors, who gathered to share in the joy of the occasion.
In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on the beauty of faithfulness and steadfastness in the service of God, highlighting the sacred commitment of consecrated life. The day drew to a close with a sumptuous family banquet, fostering an atmosphere of warmth, gratitude, and shared joy among all participants.

Juniors Sisters Animation
Date: 19th July 2025
Venue: Mary Immaculate Novitiate, Mawroh
Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma animated the Junior Sisters gathered at Mary Immaculate Convent for their annual Junior Sisters Animation. Speaking on the theme, “Blessed to Give: Loving our Consecrated Life with Zeal and Joy” (cf. Acts 20:35),she encouraged the sisters to give more, serve more, and love more in their consecrated life. Drawing inspiration from saints such as St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata, St. Maria Goretti, Blessed Rani Maria, and the Founder, she invited the sisters to deepen their faithfulness to community life and mission, which she described as a true path to holiness.
Sr. Maria Goretti also reflected on insights from Cardinal Van Thuan’s book, “Testimony of Hope”, particularly the chapter on “The Defects of Jesus” highlighting how what may seem like ‘defects’ in Jesus are in fact invitations for us to grow in holiness. She concluded the session with a thought-provoking message: “To grow in holiness, I must stop fighting with others and begin fighting with myself.” A call to inner conversion challenging the sisters to pursue holiness through self-discipline, love, and joyful commitment to their vocation.

Inauguration of Alternative Treatment Centre
Date: 8th March 2025
Venue: St. Joseph Dispensary, Mawkhar
The Province celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Alternative Treatment Centre at St. Joseph Dispensary, Mawkhar.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Rev. Fr. Teiborlang Lyngdoh, Parish Priest; the Assistant Parish Priest; Sr. Maria Goretti T. Sangma, Provincial Superior; Provincial Councilors; priests; PPC members; representatives of the men’s and women’s associations; and benefactors.
During the event, Sr. Delina Lyngdoh, Provincial Councillor for Social Apostolate, addressed the assembly, emphasizing the importance of remaining positive, hopeful, and open to seeking holistic treatment from the Sisters for overall well-being.
Sr. Helen Thanglamniang, the nurse appointed to serve in this ministry, demonstrated the treatment techniques on Sr. Teresa Varkey, who had served as the first nurse at the dispensary in 1985. This meaningful demonstration underscored the enduring commitment to care and the continued dedication to the health and well-being of the community.
The program concluded at 12:30 p.m., signifying the commencement of a new phase in the Province’s apostolate of healing.
